Snowman Soup: Free Label

Snowman soup is a kid-friendly gift to make for friends, neighbors, etc. What is Snowman Soup? It's hot chocolate mix! These packages of Snowman Soup along with cookie dough rolls were given to our friends last year for Christmas. Most people enjoy a good cup of Snowman Soup and it's also a yummy treat to make with your kids.

Inside each brown kraft bag we added a ziploc bag of hot chocolate mix. We made sure to include enough hot chocolate mix depending on the size of the family we were giving it to. Christmas shaped marshmallows were added on top of the hot chocolate mix. Staple instructions to the ziploc bag.

Assembling gift bags: wrapping paper was cut and glued to brown kraft bags, snowman soup labels were then tied to the brown bags with ribbon. A stirring stick (candy cane) was also attached. Tissue paper was placed in the gift bag after the SS mix was added.

I've included the free download Snowman Soup Poem. I first made this label about 10 -12 years ago - I happened to have the SS label so I scanned it! I did not write this poem and sorry but I do not know who did. Print this SS poem on cardstock - makes for a cute label.

Snowman Soup

We've been told you've been really good this year,
Always glad to hear it!
With cold weather drawing near,
You'll need to warm the spirit
So here's a little snowman soup,
complete with stirring stick.
Add hot water, sip it slow, it's sure to do the trick!

Make Your Own "Scratch-Off" Father's Day Card

Have you ever wondered how to make a scratch off card - kind of like a scratch off lottery ticket? Well - now you can! I've included a free down loadable card for Fathers Day and also instructions on how to make scratch off stickers for the card. I came across the idea and instructions for scratch off stickers from Artmind. Repost : )

Inside of card

Supplies needed:
Silver craft paint – I purchased cheap .59 paint at Michaels Crafts
Dish washing liquid
Clear Contact paper or clear laminating sheet
Fathers Day Card - Download

Mix silver acrylic paint with dish washing liquid – 2 parts paint to 1 part liquid.
I added a drop of black paint to help darken the silver. Paint the clear laminating sheet (or whichever clear sticky paper) with your paint mixture - you might need to paint two coats. Let completely dry.

Cut out five – 2-inch circles from the sheet (I used my cricut machine) and peel off the backing. On the inside of the card, cover each printed circle with the scratch off sticker.

Include a craft stick inside the scratch off card and now it's ready to give to your favorite dad!

This is an easy project that your kids will enjoy making! Of course, you could always give the card as is… but dad will have tons of fun scratching off his fathers day card to reveal the terms of endearment. The possibilities are endless with what you can do with these scratch off stickers!

Tips:
I experimented with several types of clear sticky backed plastics i.e. contact paper, laminating sheet, mailing label and packaging tape. They all worked except the mailing label – that surface was not shiny and the paint wouldn’t scratch off. The packaging tape was easy to use if that’s all you have on hand. To make the tape easier to paint, I taped packaging tape (2 inch wide) onto wax paper and painted the silver paint mixture onto the tape. I had a laminating sheet on hand - so that's what I ended up using.

Strawberry Shortcake Party Ideas

I made this faux strawberry shortcake "cake" as the centerpiece for a SS party theme several years ago. Easy to do - purchase a Styrofoam base, silk flowers and fake strawberries. I glued roses all around the base and top. Add strawberries and tie ribbon around the middle of the cake. Sparkle tulle was added to the base of cake. Sit the cake on top of a cake stand. And of course, add glitter - everything looks better with a little glitter.

Faux cake used as the centerpiece. Strawberry cups were purchased at Birthday Express years ago. I need to post about birthday chair thrones. I use to make these for each party theme. They are made out of heavy foamboard or a plastic. My girlfriend made this one with a pink boa glued to it. Makes for great photos with the birthday girl sitting on the throne.
